AC Transit stop closures in Oakland, Berkeley and Richmond this month

Two stops on 29th Avenue in Oakland close at 5 p.m. tonight and stay closed until midnight, AC Transit said, because of construction the agency is not carrying out itself.

Riders on Line 30 toward downtown Oakland and Line 31 toward Bay Farm Island lose the stop at 29th Avenue at the railroad crossing (Stop 58856). AC Transit is directing them to E. 12th Street at Fruitvale Avenue (57785) or 23rd Avenue at 29th Avenue (55187).

Going the other way — Line 30 to the Dimond District, Line 31 to Chabot Center and Skyline High School — the closed stop is 29th Avenue at E. 10th Street (53118). The alternatives are 29th Avenue at Glascock Street (54337) and E. 12th Street at 29th Avenue (56738).

Closed through Tuesday. The stop at 13th Street and Lincoln Avenue (50499), served by Lines 70 and 71 toward the Richmond Parkway Transit Center, has been shut since Sept. 8 and is scheduled to stay closed through Sept. 22. AC Transit has set up a temporary stop behind it, across Lincoln Avenue. The cause is construction by others.

Reopened yesterday. Ashby Avenue at Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley (55016), on Line 27 toward the Emeryville Amtrak station, was closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from Sept. 15 through Sept. 18. Riders were sent to Ashby Avenue at Wheeler Street (56796) or Ashby Avenue at Martin Luther King Jr. Way, at Ashby BART (55765).

Ended Thursday. Lines 76 and 12 ran on detour in Richmond until 5 p.m. Sept. 17, with four stops closed on each line along Moyers Road and Groom Drive. On the 76 toward the Richmond Parkway Transit Center, the closures were Moyers at Alta Mira Drive, Moyers at Benjamin Drive, Groom at Moyers and Groom at Alta Mira; riders used Moyers at Parker Road or Shane Drive at Gilma Drive. On the 12 toward El Cerrito del Norte BART, the same four corners were closed, with Shane at Gilma and Moyers at Phillips Court as the alternatives.

Ahead in Richmond. AC Transit held the last of three public meetings on its Macdonald Avenue and Cutting Boulevard project on Sept. 12 at the Richmond City Council Chambers, 440 Civic Center Plaza. The work runs along Macdonald between Richmond Parkway and San Pablo Avenue, and along Cutting between Interstate 580 and the El Cerrito del Norte BART station. It covers signal upgrades, curb extensions and sidewalk repairs, and it will move 25 bus stops to safer locations, add 17 new shelters and rebuild the sidewalks at 29 stops. AC Transit expects construction to be finished by fall 2028.
