Brentwood asked 241 people what it wants in a police chief
The city released a summary of its Police Chief Community Survey, which ran from March 13 to May 4 and will be weighed alongside interviews and candidate files.
Brentwood closed the public stage of its search for a new police chief this week, and the city manager's office put out a summary on Monday of what residents said they wanted.
The Police Chief Community Survey was open from March 13 through May 4. The city said 241 residents, business owners, community stakeholders and city employees answered it. The questions asked what qualifications, leadership characteristics and priorities they considered important for the next chief.
City Manager G. Harold Duffey makes the appointment. He said the survey results will be weighed with candidate qualifications, interviews, stakeholder input and the department's organizational needs.
"While the survey is only one component of the overall evaluation, the feedback provided by participants will help inform my selection of Brentwood's next Police Chief," Duffey wrote in the release thanking participants.
The city has not announced a date for naming a chief, and the summary does not break the responses down by question or by group.
