Transportation planners with the City of Alameda and maritime operations staff at the San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA), operator of San Francisco Bay Ferry, have completed autumn multimodal access and lighting upgrades around the Seaplane Lagoon Ferry Terminal at 1901 Ferry Point in Alameda Point. Reviewed by the Alameda Transportation Commission and WETA Board of Directors in October 2026, the enhancements support surging autumn ridership on the twenty-minute transbay route linking West Alameda directly to the Downtown San Francisco Ferry Building. Weekday morning and afternoon departures continue to post strong commuter occupancy across the central bay.

As new residential neighborhoods, maritime clean-tech employers, and waterfront parks expand across the former Naval Air Station Alameda footprint, the Seaplane Lagoon terminal has grown into one of the East Bay's busiest commuter gateways. To help riders leave single-occupancy cars at home ahead of November's shorter daylight hours, municipal public works crews have refreshed high-visibility green bikeway striping, solar bollard lighting, and wayfinding signage along the Cross Alameda Trail and Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway.

At the waterfront plaza itself, commuters have access to secure electronic BikeLink lockers, covered bike racks, forty-foot AC Transit Line 96 bus bays timed to ferry arrivals, and a 400-stall free commuter parking lot equipped with Alameda Municipal Power Level 2 electric-vehicle chargers. Simultaneously, WETA marine engineers are advancing shoreside high-capacity electrical infrastructure at Alameda Point to prepare for the agency's upcoming fleet of zero-emission battery-electric high-speed ferries.

Alameda and East Bay commuters can check weekday and weekend Seaplane Lagoon departure times, Clipper START discounted fares, and real-time vessel tracking online at sanfranciscobayferry.com or by calling (877) 643-3779. Paper schedules and Clipper card vending machines are also available on the terminal promenade.
