The Deer Valley High School Instrumental Music Program is preparing to host its second annual mattress sale fundraiser on Saturday, October 10, in Antioch. Taking place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM inside the high school North Gym at 4700 Lone Tree Way, the event transforms a standard scholastic athletic facility into an expansive retail bedding showroom. The one-day benefit will raise critical financial resources to support student musicians, band travel expenses, and instrument maintenance.

Scholastic music programs across California face ongoing budget pressures, making creative community-driven fundraising essential to sustain competitive performance standards. Proceeds from the sale directly subsidize student participation fees for prestigious regional band showcases, ensuring that financial constraints never prevent talented Antioch students from performing. In addition, local shoppers can purchase premium brand-name sleep sets at substantial discounts below conventional retail furniture showroom prices while making a meaningful investment in local youth arts.

Deer Valley High School has long maintained one of the most decorated public school instrumental music programs in East Contra Costa County, earning high marks in Northern California band and orchestra festivals. However, the costs associated with transporting hundreds of student performers and maintaining aging school-owned brass and woodwind instruments have escalated significantly. Under the leadership of Band Director Brian Poole, the music booster organization partnered with professional fundraising coordinators to pioneer the mattress showroom model, which yields substantially higher profit margins than traditional bake sales.

The showroom floor will feature more than 25 brand-name mattresses, ranging from twin to California king sizes, alongside adjustable bases, memory foam pillows, and protective bedding accessories. A full 50 percent of all proceeds will be disbursed directly to the high school instrumental music program. Student ensembles will provide live musical entertainment throughout the afternoon, including showcase sets from Deer Valley's award-winning Teal Tones jazz band and classical chamber groups. The event offers full home delivery across the United States, haul-away service for old bedding, and on-site consumer financing.

Shoppers can obtain a complimentary 10 percent discount voucher in advance by RSVPing through the band booster social media page or school event calendar. Band parents and student volunteers will be on hand throughout the day on Lone Tree Way to direct parking and assist patrons with product specifications. Community members seeking further details about the fundraiser or wishing to make direct tax-deductible donations to the Deer Valley High music program can contact the school music department at (925) 779-7570.
