Hayward City Hall closes Friday for Juneteenth

Hayward City Hall is closed Friday, June 19, for Juneteenth, and nonessential municipal services are paused for the day. City Hall reopens and services return to their regular schedule Monday, June 22.

No street sweeping and no citation enforcement happen during the closure. Sweeping picks up its regular schedule the day after.

Both branches of the Hayward Public Library are closed. The digital library stays open for checkouts of books, movies and more.

The Hayward Animal Shelter is closed. To report a dog attack or animal cruelty in progress, dial 911. For a sick or injured animal, call the Police Department's non-emergency line at (510) 293-7272.

The Police Department's customer service counter is closed as well.

Payments still go through. The Revenue Center is shut for in-person business, but bills can be paid by phone at (510) 583-4636, through the city's online portals, or at the self-service kiosk outside City Hall.

Permit work also continues online. New applications and resubmittals can be filed through the Hayward e-Permits Portal during the closure, and staff begin reviewing them after June 22.

To report a water service emergency, call the Police Department's non-emergency dispatch line at (510) 583-2700. Other non-emergency issues go through Access Hayward, the city's online customer support portal.
