The Alameda County Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office announced on Tuesday that it has commenced mailing more than 230,000 annual secured property tax statements for the 2026-2027 fiscal cycle to property owners across Oakland, Alameda, Berkeley, Fremont, and the Tri-Valley. Operating from the county administrative complex on Oak Street in Oakland, treasury officials advised taxpayers that the first installment is payable beginning November 1 and becomes delinquent after December 10 at 5:00 PM.

The secured property tax roll represents the primary revenue foundation for county public services, generating hundreds of millions of dollars directly allocated to local public school districts, community healthcare systems, emergency 911 dispatch networks, regional flood control channels, and public parks. County tax officials noted that approximately 53 percent of collected property tax dollars flow directly to K-12 education, with the remaining revenues supporting municipal infrastructure, road maintenance, and county social safety nets.

Treasurer Henry C. Levy encouraged property owners to utilize the county's secure online electronic payment system, which allows electronic check transactions with zero transaction fees and provides instant verifiable payment receipts. In-person payments and drop-box deposits will remain available at the Oak Street treasury office, as well as satellite payment collection sites across the county leading up to the December 10 deadline.

Property owners, escrow managers, and real estate professionals can search parcel tax records, verify assessed values, and submit payments online at treasurer.acgov.org. Inquiries regarding parcel tax allocations, senior homeowner property tax postponement programs, and exemption qualifications can be directed to the Alameda County Tax Collector help desk Monday through Friday at (510) 272-6800. Penalties of 10 percent will apply to payments received or postmarked after December 10.
