Alameda Unified School District Swears in Veteran Educator Erick Bell as Interim Board Trustee
Board of education appoints experienced community educator and fiscal advocate to fill vacant seat through the remainder of the 2026-2028 term.

The Alameda Unified School District Board of Education officially administered the oath of office to veteran educator and civic leader Erick Bell on Tuesday, confirming his provisional appointment to fill a vacant seat on the five-member governing board. Meeting at the district headquarters on Challenger Drive in Alameda, board trustees praised Bell's extensive background in higher education finance, career technical training, and youth mentorship across the East Bay and San Francisco.
Trustee Bell steps into the seat following a rigorous merit-based selection process that drew six qualified civic candidates from across the island community. His professional background includes senior instructional roles in accounting and business administration at the college level, as well as leadership appointments on regional community advisory committees focusing on equitable classroom funding, special education resources, and teacher retention initiatives.
Superintendent Pasquale Scuderi and fellow school board members welcomed Bell to the dais, highlighting that his fiscal expertise will provide invaluable guidance as the district navigates state education budget adjustments and coordinates modern campus infrastructure upgrades funded by local voter measures. Bell affirmed his commitment to championing mental health support programs for K-12 students, advancing dual-enrollment college pathways, and fostering transparent communication with parents.
Parents, teachers, and Alameda residents can read Trustee Bell's full biographical statement, view board policy initiatives, and stream upcoming public board proceedings online at alamedaunified.org.
