Paratransit committees hold an open house Monday on county mobility needs

Alameda County's two paratransit committees meet jointly at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 27, and the meeting opens with a public open house on the county's mobility needs assessment for older adults and people with disabilities.

The assessment is the Alameda County Transportation Commission's study of the mobility needs of older adults and people with disabilities. It has already identified the current and future challenges. Monday's session is about the next step, which is implementing the strategies meant to address them.

The meeting brings together the Paratransit Advisory and Planning Committee and the Paratransit Technical Advisory Committee. A joint session puts both committees in the same room, which is what makes an open house at this one worth a rider's afternoon.

The commission asks attendees to RSVP through the link on its notice. Questions go to paratransit@alamedactc.org.

One gap to flag plainly: the commission's notice does not give a street address or building for the open house. Anyone planning to attend in person should confirm the location when they RSVP or by emailing the paratransit address above.

The assessment is a countywide piece of work, so what comes out of it applies to riders in Oakland, Berkeley, Hayward, Fremont and the rest of the county, not to one city's program alone.
