Golden State Warriors rookie forward Yaxel Lendeborg erupted for 31 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in just his fourth career NBA game on Monday night, powering the Warriors (1-3) to their first victory of the season with a 134-114 road win over the Denver Nuggets, according to The San Francisco Standard.
In national sports and entertainment news Monday, the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation also announced that 25-time Grammy winner Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles, on Feb. 14, 2027—following last year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Bad Bunny at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, according to NBC Bay Area.
Lendeborg Joins Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, and Victor Wembanyama
Selected No. 11 overall, the 24-year-old, 6-foot-9 Lendeborg attempted 13 free throws and posted a +27 plus-minus while taking command of Golden State’s fourth-quarter offense. He became only the second rookie in NBA history—joining Victor Wembanyama—to record at least 30 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in 31 minutes or fewer, and the only Warriors rookie alongside Wilt Chamberlain and Rick Barry to post that stat line.
Steph Curry shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the field—the first time in his career he has shot 100% on more than five attempts—while Brandin Podziemski added 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists (+33), and Draymond Green and Al Horford contained Nikola Jokic after the first quarter. “Basically in all the critical moments of the game, we just put the ball in his hands,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of Lendeborg, who leads all NBA rookies in scoring through four games.
Jay-Z Set for First Super Bowl Halftime Performance on Feb. 14, 2027
Although Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has produced the Super Bowl Halftime Show since 2019 and recently signed a five-year extension through 2029, the Feb. 14, 2027 broadcast from SoFi Stadium will mark Jay-Z’s first time performing on the Super Bowl stage. The announcement capped his Jay-Z 30 Tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint, which concluded Oct. 23 and 24 at SoFi Stadium.
