West San Jose Safeway at 6150 Bollinger Road Closing Around Nov. 13
Meanwhile, Pleasanton-based Safeway—which marked 100 years in Northern California over the summer—confirmed to KTVU FOX 2 that its store at 6150 Bollinger Road in West San Jose will close “on or around” Nov. 13, 2026, reducing the grocer’s footprint in San Jose to 13 locations.
“This decision was not made lightly,” a Safeway spokesperson said in a statement, adding that employees were notified in advance and that “all associates will keep their jobs and be assigned to another store in the geographic area, consistent with the collective bargaining agreements.” Safeway directed West San Jose shoppers to nearby locations, including its store less than a mile away at 5146 Stevens Creek Boulevard.
