Zio Fraedo's on the Waterfront, the landmark Italian-American restaurant and banquet venue that has anchored the Vallejo Marina harbor for two decades, announced on Wednesday that it will permanently shut its doors following dinner service on Sunday, October 25. Known for its classic prime rib dinners, seafood pastas, and sweeping sunset views overlooking Mare Island and the Carquinez Strait, the restaurant has served as a central gathering destination for Solano and Napa county weddings, civic banquets, and family milestone celebrations.

Proprietor Frankie Fraedo and management explained that unsustainable post-pandemic lease renewal rates proposed by the City of Vallejo, coupled with escalating commercial utility tariffs and food supply chain expenses, made continuing operations financially unviable. Despite discussions with municipal economic development officials to restructure maritime lease terms, the restaurant ownership determined that maintaining its expansive 8,000-square-foot waterfront dining room and banquet facility could not be justified under current market constraints.

Civic leaders, regional boating clubs, and long-time patrons expressed deep sadness over the announcement, noting that Zio Fraedo's represented one of the few fine-dining destinations along the Vallejo waterfront that consistently supported local charity galas and youth sports sponsorships. Loyal diners from across Concord, Benicia, and American Canyon have begun reserving tables for the remaining dinner seatings to bid farewell to multi-decade kitchen and serving staff.

The restaurant confirmed that all pre-booked private events through Sunday, October 25, will be fully honored with standard full-service hospitality. Customers holding outstanding gift certificates are encouraged to redeem them during lunch or dinner services this week. Inquiries regarding final dinner reservations or commemorative menu orders can be made by contacting the restaurant host desk directly at (707) 642-8984 or visiting ziofraedos.com.
