Deer Valley Road safety work starts Tuesday in Antioch and Brentwood

Contra Costa County Public Works starts traffic safety work Tuesday at four sites on Deer Valley Road, and expects crews to be out there until Friday, Nov. 20.

The work is spread along Deer Valley Road between Empire Mine Road and Marsh Creek Road, the stretch that carries drivers between Antioch and Brentwood. Hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Holidays are off. The county said the dates hold barring unforeseen circumstances, and the daily schedule depends on weather.

Each site will have traffic control, with restrictions timed to hold down the impact during commute hours. Message boards will warn drivers ahead of the work. The county told drivers to expect delays through the work zones and to consider an alternate route during working hours.

The money comes from two sources: the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program and local gas tax revenue under SB 1.
